Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the southwestern Cape and the western Karoo.
Sparaxis grandiflora, commonly known as Botterblom in Afrikaans and Plain Harlequin-Flower in English, is a South African endemic species found in the Western Cape province, stretching from Clanwilliam in the northwest to Bredasdorp in the southeast, growing amongst fynbos. It occurs at low elevations and mostly on heavy clay soils but can be sometimes found on sandy ground, often waterlogged in winter. Flowering August to September it bears snowy white flowers.
