Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia verecunda is a vulnerable South African endemic species found in the Northern Cape province in the Escarpment west of Springbok. Plants grow in rocky granite soils. From winter to spring it produces light pink flowers with darker markings.
