Lapeirousia is a genus with about 40 species in the Iridaceae family that is found across sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria and Ethiopia to the southwestern Cape. Leaves are flat and curved to narrow and pleated.

Lapeirousia littoralis subsp. caudata, synonymously known as Lapeirousia caudata, Lapeirousia caudata subsp. caudata, Lapeirousia delagoensis or Lapeirousia lacinulata, is a South African indigenous species found in the Limpopo and North West provinces. During summer it produces dainty cream to light orange flowers.
